Target East River Plaza

B.R. Fries provided full construction management and general contracting services for the Target College Point retail location—one of the brand’s most complex multi-level store build-outs in New York. The project included a complete three-level interior fit-out featuring loading dock and storage areas, a high-volume sales floor, and a mezzanine level housing Target’s administrative offices and building controls.

Architectural & Structural Enhancements

The store’s main entrance features a custom glass and aluminum curtain-wall system, designed to create a modern, inviting façade. An escalator connects the street level to the primary entry point, ensuring an efficient customer flow into the store.

MEP & Refrigeration Systems

To support Target’s extensive food, grocery, and operations requirements, B.R. Fries installed sophisticated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including:

  • A rooftop IPEC-Mammouth generator/boiler to support HVAC and power needs

  • Extensive commercial refrigeration systems for the store’s food service departments

  • Coordinated electrical and control systems tied to Target’s proprietary back-of-house operations

These systems required meticulous integration across all levels of the store.

Complex Logistics & Site Coordination

Construction occurred within an active, occupied complex, requiring stringent onsite coordination to minimize disruptions. One of the most challenging components involved shutting down the FDR Drive to safely rig and crane mechanical and refrigeration equipment to the rooftop. This operation demanded precise planning, regulatory coordination, and expert execution.

Delivering a High-Performance Retail Environment

Through advanced project management and technical expertise, B.R. Fries delivered a state-of-the-art Target store built to meet the brand’s demanding standards for customer experience, safety, and operational efficiency. The successful completion of Target College Point demonstrates B.R. Fries’ ability to execute complex, multi-level retail environments in dense urban conditions.
