Pirate-Themed CT Scanner – New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital

B.R. Fries collaborated with NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital to bring imagination and comfort to pediatric healthcare through the creation of a pirate-themed CT scanner room.

Designed to ease anxiety and fear for young patients, the room transforms the clinical environment into an engaging adventure. Children walk the plank into a boat-shaped CT table, while colorful pirate murals, nautical props, and ambient lighting transport them to a friendly island setting.

Behind this playful experience is a highly technical medical space, requiring precision in mechanical, electrical, and imaging system coordination. B.R. Fries ensured full compliance with hospital and Department of Health standards while achieving a warm, child-friendly design that supports both comfort and clinical excellence.

This project reflects B.R. Fries’s expertise in healthcare construction, specialty imaging environments, and patient-centered design—creating spaces that blend compassion with cutting-edge technology.
