Montefiore Hospital Spencer Foreman, M.D. Pavilion Unit 7B Intensive Care Unit

Recipient of the 2026 Association of Medical Facility Professionals Greater New York Chapter (AMFP GNY) Award for Excellence in Healthcare Interiors Renovation.

B.R. Fries successfully completed the renovation of the 7B Nursing Unit at Montefiore Hospital’s Spencer Foreman, M.D. Pavilion, transforming the existing space into a fully compliant Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The project involved converting a double-occupancy step-down unit into a single-patient ICU, with six rooms designed to accommodate dual occupancy when needed.

The unit was fully demolished and rebuilt, with B.R. Fries installing all new building systems, including sprinklers, plumbing, electrical, lighting, fire alarm, HVAC, and building management systems (BMS). All interior finishes were replaced to meet modern healthcare standards.

In addition to patient rooms, the project included the construction and renovation of critical support areas such as nurse stations, nutrition space, clean and soiled holding rooms, and equipment storage. The 7th floor lobby was also refreshed, enhancing both functionality and the overall patient and staff experience.
